A nine-year-old boy died of a current while playing in a park in Kalkaji area of southeastern Delhi. The police gave this information on Sunday. Police said that on Saturday, Aryaman Chaudhary was playing in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), when he came in contact with the open electrical switchboard.
Police said that the police control room (PCR) was called about the incident at around 9:30 pm, on reaching the spot, the police came to know that the child living in Kalkaji’s DDA flats was playing in the park, when his ball fell near the switchboard switching with electric poles.
The statement said, “When Aryaman tried to get the ball out, he accidentally collided with the open switchboard and he suffered a strong lightning shock.” Local people and family members immediately took him to the nearest hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The statement said that a case has been registered against unknown persons under Section 289 (negligence in relation to machinery) and 106 (negligent death) against unknown persons.
Police said that investigation is being done to identify those responsible for electricity related matters in the park. No immediate response was received from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The investigation of the case is going on.
