The district courts of Shimla, Kullu and Nahan in Himachal Pradesh were threatened with bombs through emails on Wednesday, after which the authorities immediately took action. According to police officials, as a precaution, security personnel immediately evacuated the court premises of the three districts. Special bomb disposal units and dog squads were deployed at all places for intensive examination of the campus and surrounding areas. The police have confirmed that a detailed search is on to deal with any possible threat. He said that no explosives or suspicious materials have been found during the investigation so far.

What did the police say?

Speaking to the media, SP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi of Shimla said that on Wednesday, threatening emails have been received to blow up court premises at several places including Shimla and Rampur. He said that precautionary steps are being taken and police teams are present on the spot under the leadership of DSP level officials. Police said that after the threat, the court premises were immediately evacuated and security was increased to ensure safety of public and court employees. SP Gandhi said that the Himachal Pradesh Police is coordinating with other states who have received similar threats and investigation is going on to locate the accused.

Fake bomb threats

In recent months, Himachal Pradesh High Court, Himachal Pradesh Secretariat and Deputy Commissioner offices also received similar bomb threats. However, all these threats turned out to be false.
