Block Everything Protest: France on Nepal’s path, violent fire, people are demanding Macron resignation

The ongoing Zen Z movement in Nepal was yet to stop that another country was engulfed by violent demonstrations. People have come out on the streets against the policies of President Emmanuel Macron in France, who are already struggling with political crisis. This Protest is named Block Evivaling. Riots and unrest have spread throughout France a day after French President Emmanuel Macron announced his new candidate for the post of Prime Minister. The movement in Paris has gained momentum with the pressure on Macron to resign from his post.

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the arrest of about 250 people in the initial hours of the nationwide protest. Although the protests started online, but later it intensified and challenging the deployment of 80,000 policemen, the protesters broke the barriers after which the police made rapid arrests. Home Minister Bruno Ritleu said that a bus was set on fire in the western city of Renness and trains were disrupted due to damage to a power line in the south-west.

French President Emmanuel Macron appointed Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu as the Prime Minister of the country at night. The country has got a new Prime Minister for the fourth time in almost a year. These protests have so far appeared less intense than the previous performances in the first and second term of Macron. After his reconstruction in 2022, Macron had to face people’s anger over pension reforms. French Prime Minister François Bayaru failed to get a trust vote in Parliament, after which his government fell. Groups of protesters tried to block the beltway of Paris in the morning and the police dispersed them. In other parts of the capital, the protesters threw things at police officers. The Paris police registered 159 arrests till morning. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, around 100 other people were taken into police custody in other places in France.
