Bangalore Police, BJP MP from Chikkallapur and former Karnataka Minister Dr. K.K. Sudhakar’s wife has recovered Rs 14 lakh lost by Dr. Preeti Sudhakar. She was a victim of a cyber fraud called Digital Arrest. According to a police press release, on August 26, 44 -year -old Preeti received a WhatsApp video call from the fraudsters by becoming a Mumbai Cybercrime Officer. He claimed that his bank account was associated with illegal international transactions and warned that he would be arrested if he did not transfer money to the “verification” account. The callers assured him that the money would be returned within 45 minutes as per the rules of the Reserve Bank of India. For fear of arrest, he transferred Rs 14 lakh from his HDFC bank account to an unknown Yes Bank account.

Preeti realized that she had been cheated, she moved the West Division Cyber ​​Crime Police Station the same evening. Acting in “golden time”, the investigators helped him register a case on the National Cyber ​​Crime Reporting Portal Helpline 1930 and immediately freeze the recipient’s account. On 3 September, the 47th ACJM Court directed Yes Bank to return the freeze amount. The entire amount was deposited back to his account within a week. An FIR has been lodged and efforts are on to locate the accused.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Girish S and Assistant Police Commissioner (West Central Engineering) Umani S led the campaign. The Bengaluru Police has urged the public to take immediate action to maximize the possibilities of recovery of lost money by calling the NCRP helpline 1930 under similar circumstances and filing a complaint without delay.
