BJP and AAP furious over the statements of Sidhu’s advisor Mustafa, said- will file a case

Punjab Assembly Election 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday accused Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu’s Principal Strategic Advisor and former Indian Police Service officer Mohammad Mustafa of allegedly making provocative statements against a community at a public meeting in Malerkotla. He said in Malerkotla of Punjab that if I try to disturb my procession in future, then I will create such a situation that the police and administration will not be able to handle it. I will beat the broom people with a broom.

However, Mustafa, the state minister and husband of Congress candidate Razia Sultana, has vehemently denied the allegation. A purported video of Mustafa was shared by BJP leaders, Sambit Patra and Shazia Ilmi on their Twitter handle. State BJP general secretary Subhash Sharma said that his party will file a complaint against Mustafa with the Election Commission, demanding registration of a case against him.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha also slammed Mustafa for his alleged remarks and alleged that the Congress was trying to spoil the atmosphere in the state nearing the assembly elections. Addressing the media here, BJP national spokesperson Ilmi alleged that Mustafa used the word ‘Hindu’ in his statement. Mustafa’s wife Razia Sultana is the Congress candidate from Malerkotla assembly constituency. Malerkotla is a Muslim majority district in Punjab.

The BJP showed the purported video clip at a press conference, in which Mustafa can be heard saying at a public meeting in Malerkotla on January 20, “I swear to Allah that I will not allow him to do any programme.” I am a ‘Qaumi Fauji’… I am not an agent of RSS, who will hide in the house out of fear.

He purportedly said in the video, “If they try to do this again, I swear to Allah that I will beat them up in their house.” However, Mustafa denied using the word ‘Hindu’. and said that he had simply targeted the workers of the Aam Aadmi Party, as some of them had chased him and tried to misbehave with him.

Mustafa has been in the news in the past for making provocative statements. Mustafa was also made advisor by Navjot Sidhu, so BJP and Aam Aadmi Party have accused the Congress of giving propaganda and controversial statements during the elections. Mustafa’s wife Razia is the Congress candidate from Malerkotla. Razia is also a minister in the Punjab cabinet since 2017.
