The Bihar government is constantly making efforts to increase the income of farmers. In this episode, the government is going to provide advanced seed gold vaidehi and Sabour Makhana-1 to Makhana farmers. These advanced seeds will increase the production of more makhana in Bihar rapidly. With this initiative of the government, farmers of Bihar can earn economic profits by fulfilling the demand for increasing makhana globally.

The Bihar government has approved the scheme of Makhana components under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission for 2025-27. Under this scheme, farmers will be cultivated with advanced varieties of Gold Vaidehi and Sabour Makhana-1. Also, 75 percent grant is being given to DBT registered new farmers, including the cost of seed input and harvesting. The unit cost of cultivation of Makhana is Rs 0.97 lakh per hectare, in which farmers will get a grant in two installments at the rate of 75 percent i.e. Rs 72,750 per hectare.
Women farmers will participate
The government is also paying special attention to women participation. The participation of 30 percent of women farmers is being ensured among the farmers benefited from this scheme. This will not only increase the income of farmers but will also ensure active participation of women farmers and a balanced share of all classes.

This scheme is for 16 districts
This scheme of Makhana development is for 16 districts of Bihar. Which includes Katihar, Purnia, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura, Saharsa, Khagaria, Samastipur, Bhagalpur, Sitamarhi, East Champaran, West Champaran and Muzaffarpur.
