The possibility of an alliance between Chirag Paswan and Prashant Kishor for next month’s Bihar elections cannot be ruled out. This is because ‘in politics the doors are always open.’ Amid the ongoing seat-sharing talks between the LJP and the ruling BJP, the talk of coordination between Paswan and election strategist-politician Kishor, who will be entering the electoral fray for the first time, is a new ‘twist’.

Union minister and late Ram Vilas Paswan’s successor Chirag Paswan had sought at least 40 “winnable” seats out of 243, citing LJP’s (RV) 100% strike rate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the party had won all five of the seats it contested. Party sources said the Chirag Paswan-led party is insisting on contesting elections on “respectable” seats and is not ready to compromise on fewer seats.
Sources say that Chirag Paswan has even told his close associates that if needed for Bihar, he is ready to resign from the post of minister. For him ‘Bihar first, Bihari first’ is paramount. It is also being said that if LJP’s demand for seats is not met, then it can join hands with Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Yojana. Now the question is whether Pawan-Kishore alliance is possible? Yes.
Both options are unexpected in the broader political scenario of Bihar. Yes, this will ensure that LJP will contest more seats, but an alliance with a new face is unlikely to fulfill Paswan’s ambition of becoming the Chief Minister. At the same time, today Chirag Paswan said that the circumstances were also similar. It was an election year, the first phase of nominations had started, and during that time my father passed away. My party worked tirelessly to fulfill my dad’s dream, and there were many ups and downs along the way.

He said that the party and the family disintegrated, but I never let my father’s dreams be broken… In 2020, the party had to contest the elections alone, and I faced that situation boldly… I always kept the philosophy of ‘Bihar first, Bihari first’ at the forefront… Today is the death anniversary of my father Ram Vilas Paswan… Every worker of the party will contest the elections keeping in mind the commitment to work for the development of Bihar and the philosophy of ‘Bihar first, Bihari first’. Will fight.
