Bihar Assembly Elections: Political debut of Maithili Thakur, BJP fields her from Alinagar.

Recently BJP has released its second list for Bihar Assembly elections. Let us tell you that the names of a total of 12 candidates are included in this list, in which the name of folk singer Maithili Thakur has been declared as the candidate from Alinagar seat. It is noteworthy that the party has fielded new candidates on nine seats, which is considered to be part of its strategy to strengthen its hold among young voters and in the Mithila region.
According to available information, after announcing her candidature, Maithili Thakur said that she is impressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and wants to contribute to social service and development of Bihar. He also said that his aim is to promote Maithili traditions and bring out the regional culture through public service.
Other prominent candidates in the list include former IPS officer Anand Mishra (Buxar), Virendra Kumar (Rosra), Chhoti Kumari (Chhapra) and Ramchandra Prasad from Hayaghat. Whereas Rakesh Ojha has been fielded from Shahpur, Kedarnath Singh from Baniapur and Mahesh Paswan of BJP has been fielded from Agiaun. It is noteworthy that BJP has not given tickets to three sitting MLAs out of twelve – Gyanendra Singh Gyanu of Barh, CN Gupta of Chapra and Kusum Devi of Gopalganj.
Experts believe that this time BJP has made a strategy to counter the diverse candidate policy of former strategist Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj Party (JSP) by giving tickets to more new faces. Last time there was a big competition for VIP in Alinagar, hence the popularity of Maithili Thakur can prove important for BJP in attracting young voters.
