NDA (National Democratic Alliance) has announced seat sharing for Bihar assembly elections. Let us tell you that this time BJP and JDU have decided to contest elections on equal number of seats i.e. 101-101 seats. At the same time, Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will contest elections on 29 seats. Apart from this, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) will contest on 6 seats each.
According to available information, long meetings were held among NDA leaders in Delhi and Patna on seat sharing, which included BJP election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, Vinod Tawde and Nityanand Rai. Along with this, senior leaders of LJP, RLM and HAM also participated. It is noteworthy that earlier Chirag Paswan had demanded 40 seats, but after talks he had to be satisfied with 29 seats.
Let us tell you that this is the first time after 2005 that BJP and JDU are contesting elections on equal number of seats. Last time in the 2020 elections, JDU had contested on 115 seats and BJP on 110 seats. This time, by taking this step, both the parties want to give a clear message that there is no dispute in the alliance in Bihar.
According to experts, Chirag Paswan has become the “biggest beneficiary” in this seat sharing agreement as he has got 29 seats instead of 26 seats proposed earlier. At the same time, Manjhi said that there is no objection in getting six seats and it is the decision of the High Command.
Meanwhile, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has released the first list of 32 candidates and hinted at the formation of a third front. Apart from this, the opposition grand alliance is also in the process of finalizing the seat sharing agreement. Talks are going on between Congress and RJD on this and all the seats are likely to be finally declared in the next two-three days.
According to the available information, this time Congress can contest elections on about 50 to 100 seats. It is noteworthy that in the 2020 elections, Congress had contested on 70 seats and was successful in winning 19 seats, whereas RJD contested on 144 seats and created a strong position in the Assembly by winning 75 seats. This time all the parties are completely focusing on seat sharing and alliance strategy and the upcoming elections are going to impact the political environment of Bihar.
