Bihar Assembly Election 2025 | Election Commission will announce the dates of Bihar assembly elections at 4 pm

The Election Commission will announce the Bihar assembly election schedule on Monday. The Election Commission will hold a press conference at four in the evening. The term of the 243 -member assembly in Bihar ends on 22 November. Political parties have urged the Election Commission to hold elections immediately after the Chhath festival at the end of October to ensure the participation of more and more voters as a large number of people working outside return home for festivals during that time. The 2020 assembly elections in the state were held in three phases in the backdrop of Kovid-19 epidemic.

The dates of the elections to be held in one or more stages will be announced by a delegation of the Election Commission led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar a day after reviewing election preparations before the upcoming assembly elections. The delegation included Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

Bihar election 2025 dates

This year, festivals will be taken into consideration in the election schedule. Chhath and Diwali are falling between 18 October to 28 October. Therefore, according to sources, the Election Commission will announce the dates accordingly.

The 2025 Bihar election is expected to contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal United (JDU) ruling alliance and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress Party -led grand alliance. Election strategist -turned -politician Prashant Kishore is also in the fray with his Jan Suraj Party.

What happened in the Bihar election of 2024?

In 2020, the Bihar assembly election was the first election after the Kovid-19 epidemic. The Bihar elections of 2020 were held on 28 October, 3 November and 7 November in three phases. The results were declared on 10 November.The current National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won with 125 elected MLAs, while the main opposition coalition Grand Alliance won 110 seats.
