Big news for Sikhs living in Shillong, Governor gets Sirsa, no more displacement

Earlier, the Meghalaya government had issued eviction orders to Sikhs living in Shillong. After which this decision of the government was being protested all over the Sikh world.

Now another big news related to this case is coming out. A delegation of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has met Meghalaya Governor Satyapal Malik over the issue. Manjinder Singh Sirsa has shared information in this regard by tweeting.

Sirsa tweeted, “Meghalaya Governor Satyapal Malik assured the DSGMC delegation that injustice will not be done to Sikh families living in Harijan Colony and the government will not try to evict them.” Further, Manjinder Singh Sirsa wrote, “DSGMC is fighting and will continue to fight for the rights of these Sikh families.”

Manjinder Singh Sirsa has also shared a video in this regard. Earlier, Giani Harpreet Singh, acting Jathedar of Akal Takht, had also condemned the decision of the Meghalaya government. He said that these Sikh families have been living in Shillong for many decades. It is unconstitutional and unfortunate to expel them. He also appealed to the Government of India to immediately intervene in the matter and stay the decision of the Meghalaya government so that the Sikhs could live there in peace and harmony.
