State Bank of India (SBI), meanwhile, said in a statement to the market that it had been informed by the Association of Indian Banks that the U.S. F. B. According to him, 70 per cent of the total deposits in the country are held by public sector banks and handing them over to private hands would jeopardize the public money deposited in these banks. It may be recalled that in the 2021 budget speech, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that two public sector banks would be privatized during the current financial year.
