Uttarakhand: The doors of Gurdwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib have been closed for winter today (Sunday). After the recitation, kirtan and prayers of Sukhmani Sahib at 10 am, the Guru Granth Sahib was escorted to the Sukh Asan place with honors.
Despite the bitter cold, 1800 devotees were present on the occasion when the doors of Gurdwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib were closed. It may be recalled that due to the Corona epidemic, the pilgrimage to Sri Hemkunt Sahib started late this year. The journey started on September 18 this year.
Sri Hemkunt Sahib is located at an altitude of 4,633 meters. Despite this, about 11,000 pilgrims had come to pay homage at Hemkunt Sahib this year. Due to heavy snowfall in winter every year, the doors of Sri Hemkunt Sahib Gurdwara are closed and reopened in May next year.
