Giving this information, Japan’s leading automobile company, Suzuki Motor Corporation said that its subsidiary Maruti Suzuki India has crossed the 2.5 crore domestic sales mark earlier this month. Maruti Suzuki India achieved this sales figure on January 9, 2023. Suzuki signed a joint venture agreement with Maruti Udyog, the predecessor of Maruti Suzuki, in 1982 and introduced its first car—the Maruti 800—in December 1983.
Selling 17 models in India
Currently, 17 models are being produced and sold in India, and Maruti Suzuki has been strengthening its portfolio in the recently growing SUV model, as well as hybrid (petrol and electric) SUVs, Suzuki Motor Corporation said in a statement. It is also making efforts to popularize petrol-powered) and CNG models. Cumulative sales of hybrid and CNG models have been around 21 lakh units.

Maruti Suzuki India achieved one crore sales mark in February 2012 and two crore sales mark in July 2019. In January this year, the company has achieved 2.5 crore sales figure.
Announcement of increasing the price this month
In the same month, Maruti Suzuki India had announced a hike of about 1.1 per cent in the prices of all its models. The company had announced a price hike for the second time in the current financial year. Earlier in April 2022, the price of vehicles was increased. Maruti Suzuki had said in December last year that it would hike the prices of its vehicles to cushion the impact of rising costs. Along with this, the prices have also increased due to making the model compliant with the stricter emission norms that will come into effect from April 2023.
