A court in Varanasi has directed the Cantonment police station to register a case of cheating against Bhojpuri film actor-singer Pawan Singh and three others on the complaint of a local hotel businessman. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-II passed the order on 13 August after hearing the petition of businessman Vishal Singh. Vishal Singh’s lawyer Ashish Singh said that his client was cheated in the name of investment in the 2018 film boss.

According to the lawyer, Vishal Singh met Mumbai’s film director Prem Shankar Rai in 2017, after which he was introduced to many people associated with the film. It is alleged that Singh was persuaded to invest in the film by promising profits, and a meeting with Pawan Singh was also held to convince him. The complainant claimed that he deposited about Rs 32.60 lakh from himself and his brother’s company in different accounts.
According to the complaint, in July 2018, he was declared the producer of the film and assured to give 50 percent of the profit, later he invested Rs 1.25 crore in the film. It is alleged that despite the release of the film, Singh was not allegedly given his share of profits. Singh alleged that when he asked for his dues, actor Pawan Singh threatened to kill him.

The complainant complained to the Cantonment Police Station and the Commissioner of Police, but if there was no action, he turned to the court. The court directed the police to register an FIR against Pawan Singh and three others on charges of fraud.
