President Draupadi Murmu has nominated Supreme Court Judge Suryakant as the executive chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (Nalsa). Nalsa is an institution of the Government of India, which was established to provide free legal aid and services to poor and weaker sections.
Justice BR Gawai of the Supreme Court of India was the previous executive chairman of Nalsa. According to tradition, this post is the second most senior of the Supreme Court of India.

RBI fined State Bank of India Rs 1.72 crore

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a fine of Rs 1.72 crore on State Bank of India for not following some instructions. According to an RBI statement, the fine has been imposed under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The allegation against the bank is that through subsidy/reimbursement, it gave a bridge loan to a unit in exchange for the amount received from the Central/State Government.
Since 2021, more than 6.5 lakh calls have been received on SC/ST Atrocities Helpline; Most calls from UP

Since the helpline started in December 2021, the National Helpline Against Atrocities (NHAA) has received more than 6.5 lakh calls about atrocities against SC and ST, about half the calls have come from Uttar Pradesh. Out of these, 7,135 complaints have been officially filed and 4,314 have been resolved. These complaints include assault, social boycott, caste-based misconduct, land grabbing and depriving of public places, to police inactivity in cases ranging from incidents of atrocities.
