The central government dismissed India’s Executive Director Dr. Krishnamurthy Subramaniam at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The notice was issued on 30 April for this.
According to reports, the IMF had expressed concern over Dr. Subramaniam’s working style and requested India to recall him. Due to this, he has been removed from the post six months before the end of the tenure.
Subramaniam, who took over in November 2022, represented India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. The IMF has described the post on its website as vacant till 3 May. The reasons for the dismissal of Subramaniam include allegations of misuse of his post for promoting his book ‘India@100’.
According to sources, it is believed that Subramaniam questioned the dataset of the IMF, which the organization did not accept. Subramaniam has also worked as the Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) of the Government of India from 2018 to 2021. He has a PhD in Finance Economy from the Booth School of Business of the University of Chicago.

Priyanka Gandhi’s letter to the central government, raised the issue of lack of road-snack facilities in Wayanad

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote a letter to the central government and raised the issue of lack of road and irrigation facilities in the tribal areas of Wayanad. Priyanka has written a letter to Rural Development and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
He described road connectivity up to more than 3200 tribal settlements in his parliamentary constituency under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV. He said that the scheme gives priority to connectivity for tribal dominated villages in the districts.
However, most of the settlements are out of the scheme due to a population of at least 500 and the criteria of more than 50% Scheduled Tribes being required. Priyanka has appealed to relax these criteria in view of the socio-economic challenges faced by communities.
