With the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announcing a cash reward of Rs 51 crore for the ICC Women’s World Cup-winning Indian team, board president Mithun Manhas congratulated the team for their maiden World Cup win, saying that the win reflects the investment and belief put in by the BCCI in building a world-class women’s programme. All-round performances from Shafali Verma (87 and 2/36) and Deepti Sharma (58 and 5/39) were the highlights as the women’s team defied all odds to successfully defend the target of 299 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday to clinch their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title and first world title in both white-ball formats.

She has taken steps to promote the women’s cricket ecosystem in India, such as equal match fees for male players and organizing the Women’s Premier League (WPL) franchise, which has given young Indian talent an opportunity to connect with world-class Indian and foreign superstars.
