Sidhu Mosewala is alive in the hearts of his fans today. The two-part documentary focused on the murder of the popular Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Mosewala, was released on 11 June by the BBC World Service. The release took place on the occasion of Mousala’s birth anniversary, while his father filed a petition to stay its screening in Mansa Court in Punjab. The court will hear this petition on June 12. The documentary was originally to be publicly displayed on 11 June on the occasion of Mouswala’s birth anniversary in Mumbai. However, amid growing controversy and legal objections, the BBC World Service released it on YouTube.
Court refuses interim stay, hearing fixed
While hearing a civil trial filed by Balakaur Singh, Civil Judge (Senior Division) Rajinder Singh Nagpal on Tuesday refused to issue an interim order to stop the documentary. The court has set a detailed hearing of the case on 12 June.Singh has made two individuals, Ishleen Kaur and Ankur Jain defendants in the trial as well as foreign broadcasters.
According to Balkaur’s lawyer Satinder Pal Singh, the petitioner argued that the screening could affect the ongoing criminal trial in the murder case of Mosewala and violate the right to privacy of the family.
Father accused of sidelining consent
In the complaints lodged at Maharashtra’s Director General of Police and Juhu police station earlier, Balakaur Singh alleged that the name, equality and life story of Sidhu Mouswala was used in the documentary without family consent. He further alleged that invitations were sent to individuals claiming to reveal unknown details about the late singer, which could be an attempt to tarnish his son’s legacy.Balkaur also said that no response has been received from the Maharashtra Police about any action on complaints filed last week.

BBC gave its cleanliness
The BBC said in its description, “This is a story that covers the rural Indian villages, Canadian hip-hop scenes, the complex history of Punjab and the political atmosphere developing in India. It also enters the hidden world of organized crime and includes a dreadful phone call with the fugitive gangster who claimed to have ordered the murder.”
According to the network, the documentary includes exclusive footage and unheard sounds of the closest people of Mousse Wala. But at the time of release and management, his family has cheated. Earlier, in a complaint lodged at Maharashtra’s DGP and Juhu police station in Mumbai, Balkaur Singh Sidhu said that the BBC World Service was organizing a program to show the documentary of Sidhu Mous Wala at Juhu at 3 pm on June 11.
The BBC allegedly sent invitations to the first people, claiming that the documentary shown in theaters in Mumbai has facts about the Punjabi singer that were not revealed or published anywhere. The singer’s father had earlier alleged that this documentary could try to spoil his son’s legacy.
