The CBI has given a clean chit to a Bathinda judge in a bribery case. The case involved a bribe of Rs 30 lakh in the name of the judge, in which the lawyer had told the wife’s side that he knew the judge and would get a decision in their favor with the bribe amount.
The CBI arrested the lawyer and his accomplice red-handed in Chandigarh, after which, responding to the court’s notice, the CBI went to Bathinda to interrogate the judge. The CBI has now informed the court that the judge has no role in the matter.
Let us tell that the matter is on 13 August 2025. Harsimranjit Singh, a resident of Ferozepur’s Bedi Colony, had given a report to the CBI that advocate Jatin Salman was repeatedly demanding a bribe of Rs 30 lakh in the name of the judge to get the decision in his favor in his cousin’s divorce case pending in the Bathinda court. In this regard, the CBI laid a trap and caught Salwan and his accomplice after taking the first installment of Rs 5 lakh. Both were produced in the court and sent to Burail Jail.
Since the complaint in the case alleged that a bribe was sought in the name of a judge, the CBI court later issued a notice to the Bathinda judge, stating that his name has been implicated in the case and, therefore, he needs to be interrogated. After this, the CBI team reached Bathinda, where the judge was interrogated in a closed room.
The CBI investigation revealed that only the judge’s name has been used. Nothing more than an old acquaintance with Advocate Salman The Judge. The CBI investigation also revealed that the divorce case of the complainant’s sister was not only in the court of that judge, but that case was going on in the Special Family Court.
