A citizen of Bangladesh was arrested for allegedly entering Indian territory from Katra in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The police gave this information on Saturday.
A police spokesperson said that a team of police, who was conducting regular checks near Asia Chowk, was found to indulge in suspicious activities.
Police said that Ahmed tried to hide after seeing the policemen but was eventually caught. According to the police, a Bangladeshi identity card was reportedly received from Ahmed, however, he could not show any valid travel documents, visas or passports to justify his presence in India.
Police said that preliminary investigation revealed that Ahmed entered India in unauthorized ways, violating immigration laws. The spokesperson said that an FIR is being investigated by registering an FIR under the relevant sections of the Foreign Act at Katra police station and investigation is being done to find out the motives and possible relations behind its illegal entry.
Senior Superintendent of Police of Reasi, Paramveer Singh, praised the team for prompt action and emphasized the commitment of the police to ensure the safety of citizens. He urged the citizens to inform the nearest police unit about any suspicious activity.
