The army said in a statement that the F-7 BGI training aircraft took off at 1:06 pm local time (07:06 GMT) and then crashed. The Army Public Relations Department, quoting Reuters, said, “The F-7 BGI training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed into Uttara.”

The training fighter aircraft manufactured in China F-7 BGI after flying a few moments after flying and on Monday collided with a two-storey building of Mylstone School and College located in Diyabari in Uttara area of Dhaka. Sadidhar Rahman, Special Advisor to Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus, told reporters, now the death toll has increased to 27 and 25 of them are children.

About 170 people have been injured, many of whom are said to be critical. Initially 20 people were reported dead and seven people died on Monday night. Those killed in the accident included Pilot Flight Lieutenant Mohammad Tauqir Islam.
The government has declared State Mourning Day in memory of people who lost their lives in the accident. In a statement issued by the Chief Advisory Office on Monday, it was announced that the national flag will be half-tilted in all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions and educational institutions across the country.
