The body of a college student who set herself on fire after alleged sexual harassment by a professor was burnt on Tuesday in a crematorium in her village in Balasore district of Odisha. In a shocking development in the Balasore suicide case, the deceased’s father alleged that his daughter was murdered, not suicide, as stated early.

Calling for justice, the bereaved father urged the state government to investigate the case as a murder of the case and bring all the responsible people into the dock of justice. He said in a statement to ANI, “Everyone forced my daughter to take this step. Isn’t this murder?” He added, “I believe it was a conspiracy. She used to speak openly in college, and some people could not tolerate it.” He also expressed serious concern about his last visit to the college principal’s office and suggested that the circumstances related to his death should be thoroughly investigated.
