Bahraich serial rapist sentenced to life imprisonment in one case

A special court in Bahraich district on Wednesday sentenced a 32 -year -old man to life imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a seven -year -old girl. The officers provided this information.

Special District Government Advocate (Poxo) Sant Pratap Singh said that the convict has been identified as Avinash Pandey alias Simple, who targeted girls between five and seven years of age and is a serial rapist.

Special Additional Sessions Judge (Poxo) Deepakant Mani on Wednesday gave the verdict in one of the four cases against Pandey. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1.6 lakh, which will be given to the victim.

According to Singh, from June 25, the Bahraich police were receiving complaints from the Sujauli area that a person kidnaps the minor girls sleeping outside their homes at three to four in the early hours of the heat.

Singh told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, he used to take the girls to a nearby forest on a bicycle, showed him pornographic videos on his phone, raped them, and then gave toffees, food items or new clothes. “

Police investigation revealed that the person used to deliberately make very young girls their victims so that they could not disclose the incident. Based on the statements of the victims, the police discovered the accused, who was addicted to alcohol and had a tattoo on his hand.

In early July, the police lodged four FIRs under the relevant sections of the Code of Justice of India (BNS), the Poxo Act and other provisions. On July 6, the police detained Avinash Pandey on suspicion and questioned him. Offensive pictures of minor girls were found from his phone.

The police also recovered the clothes of the victims, his bicycle, two mobile phones and other evidence. Singh said that this is the first decision of the court in Bahraich under the new BNS provisions.
