Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has become the highest scorer of more than 50 runs in the history of T20 International (T20I), leaving behind Indian batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Babar Azam achieved this feat during the third and final T20I of the series against the South African team on Saturday, when he scored 68 runs in 47 balls with the help of nine fours. This match was played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. With this half-century, the right-handed batsman now has 40 half-centuries in 124 innings, while Virat Kohli (39 half-centuries in 117 innings) and Rohit Sharma (37 half-centuries in 151 innings) are second and third respectively in the list.

Babar Azam has played 131 T20 Internationals, scoring 4,302 runs in 124 innings at an average of 39.83. He has faced 3,335 balls at a strike rate of 128.99, which includes three centuries and 37 half-centuries, and his highest score has been 122 runs. In 125 T20 Internationals, Virat has scored 4,188 runs at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 137.04. He has scored one century, 38 half-centuries and a best score of 122*. He ends this format as the second-highest run-scorer of all time.
On the other hand, in 159 T20I matches, Rohit has scored 4,231 runs at an average of 32.05 and a strike rate of over 140. He has scored five centuries and 37 half-centuries in his career, in which his best score has been 121*. Rohit is also the highest run scorer in this format. Earlier, during the second T20I of the series, Babar Azam had overtaken Team India opener Rohit Sharma to become the highest run-scorer in the history of T20 International (T20I).

31-year-old Babar Azam needed only nine runs to overtake India’s Rohit Sharma (who had scored 4231 runs in 151 innings) in the match. Babar Azam achieved this feat by remaining unbeaten after scoring 11 runs in 18 balls in his 123rd innings.
