Rajya Sabha MP and social activist Sudha Murthy recently became a victim of a fraud call, in which an attempt was made to get sensitive personal information from them. In a complaint lodged with the Bengaluru Cyber Police on 20 September, Murthy shared the details of the incident on the morning of 5 September. According to his statement, he received a call from a number, which was checked by the Department of Telecommunications for checking on the Trucolor app. The calling woman described herself as an employee of the Ministry of Telecommunications. The woman said that the mobile number of the idol was registered in January 2020 without linking her Aadhaar. He accused the idol of watching or distributing pornographic videos on that number and warned that his mobile services would be stopped by 12 noon on the same day.

Subsequently, the caller tried to get sensitive personal information from the idol. When the idol refused to do so, the caller abuses and threatened. Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged in the case in the cyber crime police in Bengaluru. Sudha Murthy has demanded legal action against the caller for trying to get personal information from fraud and using threatening words. Sudha Murthy is an Indian writer, social worker and philanthropist who is known for his significant contribution in education and rural development. Born in 1950, she is the chairman of Infosys Technologies, the chairman of the Infosys Foundation.
