Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has condemned the alleged attack on Achal Jindal, manager of NHAI Shimla, which has been carried out by Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh and six of his colleagues. This incident has created political ruckus. Describing the attack as heinous and seriously condemnable, Gadkari has demanded a quick and exemplary action from Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari wrote on X that the heinous attack by Panchayati Raj Minister of Himachal Pradesh and his colleagues on NHAI PIU Shimla’s manager Achal Jindal is extremely condemnable and is an insult to the rule of law. Such a cruel attack on a public servant that is performing its official duties not only endanger personal security, but also destroys institutional integrity. I have taken serious cognizance of the case and spoke to Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu ji, and urged to take immediate and exemplary action against all criminals. Accountability should be ensured and justice should be found without delay.

Achal Jindal, who was allegedly attacked while performing his official duties, has suffered head injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Engineers Association has also come up in protest. In an official statement, he condemned the “cruel attack” and described it as “a terrible and unacceptable act against a public servant”. The association demanded “immediate and exemplary action” against the minister and others involved.
