Attack on Jafar Express again in Pakistan, many injured in blast, this rebel group took responsibility

The Jaffer Express train was attacked on Tuesday in Sultankot area near the Sindh-Balochistan border, when an explosive equipment was installed on the tracks. Several coaches of the train going to Quetta after the explosion derailed. Reports of initial rescue operations have confirmed the injuries of many people, although the entire number of damage and casualties is not yet clear. Rescue teams and security forces are doing relief work, medical teams are treating the injured and officials are investigating the reasons for the attack. Jaffer Express has been targeted several times in recent months, causing continuous security challenges in the region. In August 2025, six coaches of the same train derailed in an IED blast in Mastung district of Balochistan. Some passengers suffered minor injuries in the incident and the services temporarily stopped.

Earlier, in March 2025, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) militants kidnapped the Jaffer Express at the Boln Pass and held more than 400 passengers hostage. During this attack, explosives were used to damage the rail tracks, firing and damaged both hostage and security forces before the situation was overcome. Balochistan remains an unstable province, where the separatist groups attack infrastructure, security forces and transport connections. Constant incidents of attacks such as Jaffer Express highlight concerns about both safety and stability of passengers in the border areas between Sindh and Balochistan.
