Attack on BJP MP-MLA engaged in relief work in Bengal, two arrested, allegations against TMC

Bengal Police has arrested two people in connection with the attack on BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh in North Bengal. This is the first arrest made by the local police in the case of attack on BJP leaders. According to officials, one person was arrested from Nagarakata and the other from Jaigaon. These arrests came after stones were pelted at BJP MP Khagen Murmu and Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh in Nagarakata area of ​​Jalpaiguri on Monday. Both the leaders were helping flood affected communities when they were targeted. BJP leaders alleged that the attack was carried out by Trinamool Congress members.

BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya posted on X: TMC’s jungle rule in Bengal! BJP MP Khagen Murmu, a respected tribal leader and two-time MP from North Malda, was attacked by TMC goons while on his way to help in relief and rescue operations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack, calling it “extremely horrific” and a reflection of the poor law and order situation in West Bengal.

Prime Minister Modi said that the way our party colleagues, including a sitting MP and MLA, who were serving the people affected by floods and landslides in West Bengal, were attacked, shows the insensitivity of TMC and the very poor law and order situation in the state. He also urged the West Bengal government to focus on relief operations instead of indulging in violence.
