In a post on X, Jaishankar said that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was specially appreciated to declare the organization associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba located in Pakistan. The organization took responsibility for the attack in Pahalgam on 22 April.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday welcomed the US government’s decision to declare The Resistance Front (TRF) as a terrorist organization. The statement came at a time when the US has declared TRF as Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and particularly nominated Global Terrorist (SDGT) unit, which took responsibility for the deadly Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir. TRF and other associated organizations have been included as Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and specially designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) with the names of Lashkar-e-Taiba. This has been done under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act respectively and the Government Order 13224. The Ministry of External Affairs has also reviewed the situation as the FTO of Lashkar-e-Taiba and retained it. The Ministry of External Affairs said that this action against TRF shows the administration’s commitment to protect our national security interests, combat terrorism and work on the stance of President Donald Trump of Justice in Pahalgam attack.

The organization took responsibility for the attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. Earlier, the US State Ministry had said that it was included in the list of banned global terrorist organization (FTO) and particularly banned global terrorist (SDGT). The US State Ministry also said that TRF had taken responsibility for the Pahalgam attack in which 26 people died. The TRF has also taken responsibility for several attacks against the Indian security forces, including the recent attack in 2024.
