A fire broke out in a 13-storey building in the southern Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung on Thursday. At least 46 people were killed and 51 others were injured.
The fire broke out in the building around 3 a.m., Kaohsiung City Fire Department officials said in a statement. Rescue work is underway by fire department personnel. According to the news agency, the building is commercial and partially residential. Due to which the fire has been brought under control after a lot of hard work.
Fire officials say 46 people have been killed so far in the incident. He said that 51 others who were burnt in the incident have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Fire officials said the fire in the building was “extremely severe.” Many floors of the building have been burnt to ashes. The cause of the fire is not yet known. According to eyewitnesses, a huge explosion took place in the building at around 3 in the morning. He said the building that caught fire was 40 years old.
