There was a wave of mourning in Assam and the whole country on Friday when the news of the untimely demise of the famous Assamese singer Zubin Garg came. The 52 -year -old artist, who had gained national fame from the 2006 film Gangster’s soulful Bollywood hit song or Ali, died in a tragic scuba diving accident in Singapore.

Minister Himant Vishwa Sharma said that the post -mortem of the body of famous singer Zubin Garg was completed in Singapore on Saturday. Sharma said that the body has been assigned to the people accompanying him. The Chief Minister posted on ‘X’ and said, “The post -mortem of the body of all of us was completed in Singapore. His body is being assigned to the team members Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, Sandipan Garg and Siddharth Sharma (manager) in the presence of Indian embassy officials there.

In Singapore, Indian High Commissioner Shilpak Ambule informed Sharma on Friday night that Garg died in Singapore while swimming in the sea without a life jacket. Sharma had said that 18 people, including Garg, had gone for boat travel and swimming. He said that Garg had gone for swimming wearing a life jacket and the life guard asked him to wear a life jacket, but Garg did not do so.
The Assam Chief Minister said, “Garg initially wore a life jacket, but after a few seconds he removed it saying that the jacket is very big and it is having trouble wearing it.” After reaching the singer’s residence in Kahilipara area on Friday night, Sharma said, “The High Commissioner has sent a list of those who were with Garg. It consists of 11 people, including Abhimanyu Talukdar who belongs to the Assamese community living in Singapore and he managed the boat. Apart from this, it consists of four members of the singer’s team and two members of the crew. ‘
The Chief Minister said that Garg was found to be floating in the sea, after which the lifeguard immediately gave CPR and was taken to Singapore General Hospital, where he was declared dead. He said that Singapore officials are questioning those who were with the singer.
