Mohsin Naqvi, president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), announced on Saturday that the men’s Asia Cup will be held from September 9 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the initial program received by PTI, the much -awaited group phase between India and Pakistan will be held at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday (September 14). The teams of India and Pakistan are in the same group and these two teams are likely to be face to face again in the Super Four match next Sunday (September 21).
India will start their campaign against UAE on 10 September and all its matches are likely to be played in Dubai. India, Pakistan, UAE and Oman are placed in Group A while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong are in Group B. The ACC will allow the 17 -member team for this 19 -match tournament and the matches will be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
“I am happy to confirm the dates of the ACC Men Asia Cup 2025 in UAE,” Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Naqvi said in a formal announcement on ‘X’. This prestigious tournament will be held from September 9 to 28. We expect to watch great cricket in it. Its detailed schedule will be released soon. ”
The venue of the Asia Cup was decided at the ACC meeting on 24 July. All 25 member countries participated in this meeting. The host of the tournament is BCCI, but is being held in the UAE as India and Pakistan have expressed mutually agreed to compete only at neutral places by 2027 due to the current tension between the two countries.
According to the agreement with ACC broadcasters, India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group and they will get another chance to confront each other even in the super six phase. If both teams reach the finals, then the third match will also be likely in the tournament.
This session of the Asia Cup will be held in the T20 format in view of the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka. The format of the Asia Cup is usually according to the next global tournament of the ICC.
