The Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday arrested a Pakistani citizen near the Line of Control (LoC) in Manjakot area of Rajouri district. The intruder, known as Mohammad Arib Ahmed, was stopped while entering Indian territory under suspicious circumstances, after which a high alert was issued in the sensitive border area. According to official sources, the BSF Rajouri Battalion saw the person trying to cross the LoC and took him into custody without any incident. During the initial search, a 20,000 Pakistani rupee Pakistani currency was recovered from him. The person did not find any weapons or objectionable documents, but security agencies say the investigation is still in the initial stage.

The incident occurred at a time when India is keeping a strict monitoring on the border in response to a possible activity intelligence alert from across the border. BSF and army troops in the area have since increased monitoring in the surrounding areas. Officials said that once the initial inquiry is completed, Ahmed will be handed over to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for further legal action. The Ministry of Home Affairs is being informed in this matter and on the basis of what comes from the inquiry, central intelligence agencies are also expected to be involved in the investigation. No official statement has been made by Pakistani officials about the arrest yet.
