The Special Cell of Ludhiana Police Commissionerate has arrested a person resident of Bihar on charges of possessing illegal weapons on secret information. Police recovered three illegal desi pistols, six magazines and 25 bullets from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Manish Kumar alias Shankar (25), a resident of Jhanjharpur in Bihar, who was living in a rented house in Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar, Gyaspura here.

Police blockade on secret information
ADCP Amandeep Singh Brar and ACP Detective Rajesh Sharma said that a team of special cell arrested the accused from Eastman Chowk on the basis of secret information. The accused was passing through the area. The police stopped him for checking. On searching, the police recovered illegal weapons and ammunition from his possession.

ADCP said- smuggled weapons from Madhya Pradesh
ADCP Amandeep said that during interrogation, the accused said that he used to smuggle weapons from Madhya Pradesh. It is suspected that the accused used to smuggle weapons to sell gangs active in Punjab. He said that there is no old criminal record of the accused. However, an FIR has been registered against him under sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act at Sahnewal police station.
The accused was produced in court on Sunday. The court has sent the accused to police custody for three days for questioning. Adcp Brar said that during interrogation, the accused is expected to get more important information. The police is also trying to find out the accused who supplied illegal arms to the accused.
