A large number of people attended the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ March organized by right -wing activist Tommy Robinson in London on Saturday 13 September. According to reports, 1.1 to 1.5 lakh people participated in it, which is considered one of the biggest right -wing performances in Britain so far.
The objective of the rally was to oppose immigration. But this protest became violent and clashes between Robinson supporters and police. Police said they found it very difficult to control the crowd. Meanwhile, 26 policemen were injured, out of which the condition of four is said to be critical. Many policemen suffered injuries from punches, kick and bottles, someone’s teeth broke and someone’s nose and head were seriously hurt.
According to police, about 1,10,000 people were present in the rally. But drones and air photos also showed clearly that several kilometers long roads in Central London were filled with protesters, which is being speculated that the crowd could have been even more.
Meanwhile, Tommy Robinson claimed that ‘millions of people’ had reached the rally. He shared the video on social media and described it as the biggest crowd of his supporters and accused the mainstream media of hiding the truth.
The rally lasted parallel with another performance ‘Stand Up to Rasism’ (against racism), which included around 5,000 people. In order to ensure that there is no clash between the two sides, the police had to construct the dam area (buffer zone) several times a day and take strict steps to stop the crowd.
