Punjab Govenment: Bhagwant Mann government gives top priority to those ex-servicemen, who have served the country for a long time and are valuable assets of our country. A historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on March 27, 2023 by the Directorate of Defense Service Welfare Punjab and Punjabi University Patiala to provide graduation degrees to ex-servicemen with the objective of providing dignified employment to such soldiers.
In this regard, a formal function was organized at Punjab Bhavan in which Defense Services Welfare Department Cabinet Minister Chetan Singh Jaudamajra attended as the chief guest. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University Patiala Dr. Arvind, JM Balmurgan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Government of Punjab, Department of Defense Services Welfare, Brigadier Bhupinder Singh Dhillon (retd), Director Defense Services Welfare Punjab and other officials were also present.
Giving information in this regard, Defense Services Welfare Department Cabinet Minister Chetan Singh Jaudamajra said that due to the continuous efforts of the government led by Bhagwant Mann, with this MoU, eligible ex-servicemen of Punjab will be awarded Bachelor of Arts (Defence and Strategic Studies) from Punjabi University, Patiala. Degree of Graduation Certificate will be awarded and through this degree they will be eligible to apply for Group A and B posts. Earlier, at the time of retirement, he could apply only for Group C and D posts with a special education certificate issued by the Army, Navy and Air Force.
After this, Defense Services Welfare Department Cabinet Minister Chetan Singh Jaudamajra distributed financial assistance checks to disabled ex-servicemen and their dependents during a brief program held at District Defense Services Welfare Office, SAS Nagar. He said that the ex-gratia amount given to the families of martyrs has been increased to one crore rupees and recently the process of giving employment to 12 families of martyrs has also been completed and appointment letters will be issued to them soon. will be done
