After the Mother Dairy and Verka brand, Amul has also increased the price of milk by 2 rupees a liter across the country. The new prices will be applicable from tomorrow i.e. Wednesday, May 01.
The prices of Amul Standard, Amul Buffalo Milk, Amul Gold, Amul Slim & Trim, Amul Tea Maja, Amul Fresh and Amul Cau Milk have increased by Rs 2.

Three months ago, on 24 January, Amul reduced the price of milk by 1 rupee. Earlier last year, 3 days before the Lok Sabha election results, Amul had increased the price of milk, when Amul Gold milk was increased by Rs 2 per liter. At the same time, the prices of Amul Shakti and Tea Special were also increased.
Verka and Mother Dairy also increased the price of milk by 2 rupees
A day earlier, Mother Dairy and Verka brands increased the price of milk by 2 rupees a liter across the country. The new prices of both companies have come into effect from April 30. After this increase, now the price of full cream milk of Mother Dairy has increased from ₹ 67 to ₹ 69 per liter and toned milk has increased from ₹ 54 to ₹ 56 per liter.

Verka had said that the price of full cream milk will increase by 2 rupees, toned and double toned milk will also be expensive by 2 rupees, small packs such as 500ml or 200ml milk packets will increase the price depending on a large packet. Amul’s model works at three levels:
1. Dairy Co-operative Society
2. District Milk Union
3. State Milk Federation
- All the farmers of the village producing milk are members of the dairy co-operative society. These members choose representatives who manage the District Milk Union together.
- The District Union processes milk and milk products. After the processing, these products are transported to the market like Gujarat co-operative milk marketing Federation Limited Distributor.
- Professions are hired to manage the supply chain. About 1.5 million people get employment in milk collection, processing and distribution directly-indirectly.
- Amul’s model has become a case study in business schools. In this model, dairy is under the control of farmers. This model shows how the profit reaches the lowest part of the pyramid.

How does millions of liters of milk collect?
- There are 18,600 milk co-operative societies and 18 District Unions in 33 districts of Gujarat. More than 36 lakh farmers are associated with these societies, which produce milk.
- To collect milk, the movement starts from 5 am. Farmers extract cattle milk and fill in the cannes. After this, milk is brought to the collection center.
- A long line of farmers is installed at the collection center by about 7 am. Society workers measure the amount of milk and fat content is also measured. This system is completely automated.
- The output of every farmer’s milk is saved in the computer. The income of farmers depends on the amount of milk and fat content. Farmers are paid every month on a certain date.
- An app has also been created for farmers, in which they get information from milk quantity and fat to payment. The payment is transferred directly to the farmers’ bank account.

The collection center is delivered after filling the cattle milk in the cans.
Other facts related to Amul
- Amul’s pyramid model consists of milk producers at the bottom. Out of every single rupee spent, about 86 paise goes to his member and 14 paise is kept to run co-operative business. Due to high quantity, this amount becomes very large.
- The District is the chief chairman of the Milk Union, who meets every month. Here these people take stock of co-operative business. In this, issues like expansion plan, buying new machinery and giving bonus to members are discussed.
