The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted an arms smuggling module from across the border in a major operation. The police have arrested 7 members of this gang and have also recovered 15 illegal weapons from the arms smugglers.
The arrested accused have been identified as Shamsher Singh alias Seema, Amandeep Singh, Balwinder Singh, Gurdev Singh, Karnpreet Singh, Harman Singh and a minor. All are residents of Amritsar. Police recovered 15 modern pistols from their possession, including 9 Glockmm pistols and 6 pistols (.30 bore).
Giving information, DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested accused were in contact with a handler based in Pakistan with whom they were connected through social media. The gang was involved in procurement and supply of illegal arms across Punjab.

An FIR has been registered against the arrested accused in Cantonment Police Station Amritsar. The police said that now the investigation is on to trace the entire network behind and forward links. The DGP said that he is committed to ending the cross-border arms smuggling network and curbing the spread of illegal arms and organized crime in the state.
