Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday strongly criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for giving ticket to the son of late criminal Shahabuddin in the Bihar Assembly elections. Addressing a public meeting in Saran, Shah said that to keep Bihar safe, the Modi-Nitish duo will have to be brought back to power. Shah said that I have seen the list of RJD-Rashtriya Janata Dal candidates, and the name of Shahabuddin’s son is also there in it. If RJD gives election ticket to Shahabuddin’s son, can Bihar remain safe? If we have to keep Bihar safe, we will have to bring back the Modi-Nitish duo.

RJD has fielded Shahabuddin’s son Osama Shahab from Raghunathpur assembly constituency of Siwan for the upcoming elections. He further said that NDA is contesting the elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Amit Shah said, “In Bihar we are contesting elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the country.” Shah launched a scathing attack on RJD supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav, saying that Lalu-Rabri’s 15-year ‘Jungle Raj’ had pushed Bihar back almost half a century. He further said that during this period Bihar lost its dignity, glory and excellence.
Shah, in an indirect attack on Tejashwi Yadav, said that the same “Jungle Raj” is in front of the people of Bihar today, with new faces and seeking votes. Addressing a conference of intellectuals in Patna, Bihar, Shah said, “What was that era in which Bihar became a sick state. In just 15 years of jungle raj, Bihar lost its glory, wealth and knowledge. In 15 years of jungle raj, Bihar lost its dignity, glory and every kind of excellence. Imagine how those 15 years must have been… the era in which the prestige of Bihar went down…” He further alleged that after independence, Bihar established industry Left the state because of “Lalu Yadav’s Jungle Raj”.

The Union Minister said, “When he (Lalu Yadav) came out of jail in a corruption case and a procession was taken out on an elephant, we did not understand such shamelessness… The industries which were established in Bihar at the time of independence, gradually started leaving Bihar… That 15-year rule pushed Bihar back by almost half a century. The same ‘Jungle Raj’ is present in front of the people of Bihar today with new faces.” This time, with assembly elections being held in only two phases in Bihar, Shah targeted the Grand Alliance and said, “I want to ask Lalu and Rahul Company that earlier elections were held in 6 phases in Bihar, whereas now elections are being held in only 2 phases. It had to be done in 6 phases because so many security arrangements were not being made, and now it is being held in 2 phases because Bihar has become safe.”
