According to available information, all three persons present on the said boat were allegedly marked as ‘narco-terrorists’ by the US intelligence agencies. This attack was carried out in international waters, due to which questions have been raised about the legality of this action.
It is noteworthy that four people were killed in the attack on Wednesday this week, whereas 14 people had lost their lives in the earlier attacks on Monday. It is being told that in this operation which started in September, till now more than 62 people have died and along with 14 boats, a half-sinking boat has also been salvaged. Citizens of Venezuela and Colombia are also said to be among the victims.
Although America claims that this campaign is being run to eliminate the drug-trafficking networks, no concrete evidence in this regard has been made public till now. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk has described these attacks as ‘unacceptable’ and has appealed to the US to immediately stop such actions. According to him, this is a clear violation of international law and human rights principles.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has described the attacks as ‘illegal aggression’ and claimed the US administration is trying to destabilize his regime.
