America should correct its mistake, otherwise… China’s tough stance on tariff war.

After US President Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs of up to 155 percent on Chinese imports, Beijing has warned Washington to correct its ‘mistake’ and resolve the trade issue through talks. China’s Consul General in Kolkata, Xu Wei, said that if America does not relent, China will definitely respond.
we will fight if forced
Clarifying China’s stance on the trade war, he said: ‘On this trade war, as you know, our stance towards China is absolutely clear. We don’t want this conflict. But if we are forced, we will definitely respond. If necessary, we will also fight.
doors open for dialogue
Calling Washington to the negotiating table, he said, ‘If America wants to negotiate, our doors are open. That is why we repeatedly tell the US government that cooperation benefits both sides, while conflict harms everyone.
He urged America to correct its mistake and resolve the issue through dialogue. He made it clear that ‘if this does not happen, China will take necessary steps to protect our rights.’
Trump’s threat of 155% tariff
Last week, Trump had given a stern warning to China, saying that if there is no trade deal between the two countries, then heavy tariffs of up to 155 percent can be imposed from November 1.
Speaking at the White House, Trump claimed that Beijing has been ‘very respectful’ of Washington and has been paying ‘huge amounts of money’ in return for the 55 per cent duty imposed on the US on its products. He further said, ‘Many countries have taken advantage of America, and now they are not able to take advantage. China is paying 55 percent duty and if we do not make any agreement, there is a possibility of paying 155 percent duty from November 1.
India and China need cooperation
Referring to the changing global scenario, the Chinese Consul General said that cooperation between India and China can be beneficial for both the countries. He said, ‘China and India actually have a lot in common. But we also have some different views. It is hoped that both the governments will have discussed how to use this challenge for the benefit of their respective countries.
Concluding his talk, he said, ‘Not only China, but America and India also need cooperation because cooperation benefits everyone and conflict hurts everyone.’
