Akash Deep Story: Lost father-brother, sister struggling with cancer, Akash of Bihar touched highs by fighting challenges

Fast bowler Akash Deep dedicated his elder sister to win his match in the second Test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England in Birmingham. She revealed that she has been battling cancer for the last two months. In an emotional conversation after the match with broadcasters, Akash said that he wanted to bring a smile on his face, and whenever he had a ball in his hand, he remembered his struggle. Akash Deep played an important role in India’s 336 -run win, in which the visiting team faced England on the home ground. Akash took 10 wickets, including six wickets in the second innings, thus he became the second Indian bowler to take 10 wickets in the Test match in England after Chetan Sharma.

Success in Birmingham was found through pain. At the age of 22, Akash went away from cricket, so that he could take care of his paralyzed father in Sasaram, Bihar. His father later passed away, after which his elder brother died, causing Akash to come forward as the head of the family. It was a three -year silence and a period of sacrifice. In 2016, Akash moved to West Bengal, chasing a dream that was once out of reach. He started with tennis-ball cricket in Durgapur to earn a livelihood, before he finally became his identity in the Bengal circuit. From playing in oblivion to defeating England in a historic victory, Akash Deep has emerged from disadvantage, patience and fearless resolution.
Talking to Cheteshwar Pujara on Jio Hotstar, he controlled his feelings and said, “Every time I take the ball, his thoughts and pictures would come to my mind.” This performance is dedicated to him. I want to tell her, “Sister, we are all with you.” He was happy while talking about the match that the plan she made was effective. “He does not want to think about playing at Lord’s Cricket Ground where the next Test will be played from 10 to 14 July as he wants to enjoy his match winning performance right now.”

He said, “I have not thought about my strategy for Lord’s. But this will not be very different from the strategy here. There will be a few days when it is effective and there will be some days when it is not effective. Our job is to stay on it and rely on our process.
