Bureau Report: After BJP, Shiromani Akali Dal has also pulled out of the century debate on November 1 by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Senior leader of the party, Prem Singh Chandumajra, said that when the Hon’ble government did not defend itself in the Supreme Court, then this debate is of no use. Where the decision is to be taken, if Punjab’s case is weakly presented, then what is the benefit of such a debate. It is like drinking alcohol in water. The message was not given to those who should have been given the message. What is the benefit of trapping Singh among themselves? He said that Kejriwal wants to divide Punjabis under a conspiracy and Akali Dal will not be a part of this conspiracy. He said that all the parties of Punjab should come together and fight for the waters of Punjab. Prem Singh Chandumajra claimed that we have sufficient information that the central survey team is coming to Punjab on November 1. We have made it fly to stop it. We will deploy teams at Kiratpur Sahib where the canal starts and Kapuri where it enters Haryana. Under no circumstances will we allow teams to enter Punjab. He said that the way the Akali Dal opposed the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the same way our team will oppose it. Punjab does not have even a single drop of water.
‘We knew from the beginning that they would not join’
On the decision of Akali Dal not to come to the debate, Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that we already knew that the Akali Dal would not come to the debate because they have planted all the banks. Be it the issue of SYL, Punjab University, Chandigarh or BBMB. The Akali Dal has never spoken against the decisions of the BJP while being a partner at the Centre. Kang said that the notification of SYL land was done by Chief Minister Raje Parkash Singh Badal. Kang alleged that first the Akali Dal is a seed, then they say we will sacrifice. When sacrifice is needed, the self takes a back seat and puts the youth forward. Similarly, he made black bills in collaboration with BJP and then backed down when there was opposition. He lashed out at the Akali Dal flying squad and said that they have flown themselves. Akali Dal protests only when it is out of control. When he was a part of the central cabinet, he never raised the issue of the release of the captive Singhs, now when they are outside, they are protesting.
BJP also boycotted the debate
Before Akali Dal, BJP state president Sunil Jakhar had also boycotted the CM’s debate. He had said that if there is to be a debate, then do it in Abohar, where the SYL canal was supposed to enter Haryana first. He had said that he will not debate in the Tagore Theater where gimmicks take place. Not only these, Jakhar also cited the stand taken by the Punjab government on SYL in the Supreme Court as the reason for not participating in the debate. However, earlier Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann tweeted to Jakhar and said that when SYL was getting hit in Kapuri, his father Balram Jakhar was also present. On the other hand, the Congress has not clarified its stand regarding this debate. However, the leader of the opposition, Pratap Singh Bajwa, has demanded that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann clarify his stand in the Supreme Court before the debate.
Now there will be a debate in PAU
Earlier, the November 1 debate was held in Tagore Theater in Chandigarh. But due to the fact that the theater did not approve any political program as per the rules, now there is a discussion that the debate will be held on November 1 in Punjab Agriculture University, Ladhiana.
