Airlines rule in rail travel! Penalty may have to be paid for carrying bags full of bags

Indian Railways is preparing to tighten its goods policy, which will make it close to rules like airports. Although goods ban on goods were present for years, they rarely followed. Now, the Railway Board has identified major stations where the permissible load limit will be strictly followed. Under the rules, first-class AC passengers can carry goods up to 70 kg for free, while for AC to-tier this limit is 50 kg, AC three-tier and 40 kg for sleeper category and 35 kg for general category. Large size bags that disrupt boarding spaces will be fined.

A senior railway official said that if your luggage is slightly higher than the free limit, then you will be charged at normal rates. But carrying more goods from the border will be fined. He further informed that before starting the journey for additional goods, booking will have to be done in the goods office. The Railways clarified in a statement: “The rules of goods are already present. The authorities have been instructed to ensure their proper compliance and standard instructions are available.” Passengers carrying scooters, bicycles or other large items will not get free allowance. The move aims to reduce congestion, climb the train easily and maintain safety in trains.

Himanshu Shukla, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) of Prayagraj Division of NCR, said that the move is to ensure more efficient and comfortable travel experiences, especially for travelers on long distance routes. Initially it will be applied to major stations in the NCR region, including Prayagraj Junction, Prayagraj Chivki, Subedarganj, Kanpur Central, Mirzapur, Tundla, Aligarh Junction, Govindpuri and Etawah. Shukla said that passengers at these stations will be allowed to go to the platform only after checking the weight of their luggage and the goods within the prescribed limit.
