Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Former CM Vijay Rupani’s DNA match, will be cremated in Rajkot

Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said that the family members of the former Chief Minister have been informed about DNA matching. He told reporters that CM Bhupendra Patel went to the residence of former CM Vijay Rupani and told his family that his DNA had been matched.

Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi on Sunday confirmed that three days after the deadly Air India aircraft accident in Ahmedabad, former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had matched his remains at the accident site. This was confirmed in the I DNA report at 11.10 am. His funeral will take place in Rajkot. CMO officials were present in the city’s civil hospital to carry their body.

He told reporters that CM Bhupendra Patel went to the residence of former CM Vijay Rupani and told his family that his DNA had been matched. The CM also told the family that the state government will cooperate with them in further proceedings of funeral in Rajkot. Family members will decide when they take their body in their possession.

Rupani was among 241 people aboard in Air India 171 on Thursday afternoon, who crashed shortly after flying to London. Only a British citizen survived in this incident. The government has said that the black box has been recovered, and data decoding is being done to find out the cause of the incident. A few seconds after flying the aircraft crashed, which collided with a building inside the BJ Medical College campus in Meghaninagar, about one kilometer from the airport runway. The collision caused a fireball, which badly damaged the hostel building and many people died on the ground, including some MBBS students.
