After the ceasefire in Gaza, Trump now focuses on ending the Russia-Ukraine war.

Amid the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, US President Donald Trump said that he is now focusing on ending the Russia-Ukraine war.

In this direction, Trump is considering giving long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine to increase pressure on Russia so that Moscow can be persuaded for talks.

In his 2024 election campaign, Trump promised to end the wars in Ukraine and Gaza and strongly criticized the policies of then President Joe Biden. However, his efforts to hold direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin have so far failed.

After the ceasefire in Gaza, Trump said that now he hopes that there will be progress towards ending the Russia-Ukraine war. The fourth meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this year will be held on Friday.

Before this meeting, Trump said that if Putin did not start peace talks soon, he would consider selling Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. These missiles have a range of about 1,600 kilometers and will give Ukraine the ability to strike deep inside Russian territory.

Putin has clearly said that providing Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine would be crossing the ‘Lakshman Rekha’ and would harm relations between Moscow and Washington, but Trump has indicated that he is not going to back down.

The Trump administration is considering a proposal pending in the Senate, under which there is a provision to impose heavy tariffs on countries purchasing oil, gas and uranium from Russia.
