After Mission Nisar, ISRO’s big jump, will now launch 6500 kg communication satellite of America

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is ready to write another chapter in its remarkable journey ranging from borrowing its first rocket to becoming a reliable launch partner. ISRO President V Narayanan, describing it as an important jump in India’s space capabilities, said, “In the next few months, the country, which was once found a small rocket from the US, would launch a 6,500 kg communication satellite manufactured by the US using our own launcher.” Recalling the journey, the ISRO president said that the Indian Space Program started in 1963 when the US provided a small rocket to India.

At that time, the country was 6-7 years behind advanced countries in space technology. As of 1975, with US satellite data, ISRO demonstrated ‘mass communication’ by placing 2,400 television sets in 2,400 villages in six states. On July 30, ISRO successfully launched the world’s most expensive satellite, NASA-Israo Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) through GSLV-F16. L Band Sar Palor came from America, while S band payload was provided by ISRO. Narayanan said that NASA appreciated ISRO for accurate launch.
