New Delhi: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is going to carry out an important mission for the Indian Navy on November 2. Under this mission, an advanced communication satellite named CMS-03, also known as Gsat-7R, will be launched. According to available information, this satellite will further strengthen the strategic capabilities of the Navy such as monitoring Indian maritime borders, realtime communication and monitoring enemy activities.
Let us tell you that to carry out this mission, the LVM-3 launch vehicle has been delivered to the launchpad of Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. ISRO has accelerated the pace of pre-launch tests, while the Meteorological Department was keeping a special watch on the mission in view of the possible threat of cyclone in the past. It is believed that this satellite will weigh 4,400 kg, which will be the heaviest communication satellite ever launched into geosynchronous transfer orbit from Indian soil.
It is noteworthy that CMS-03 will be a multi-band satellite, which will ensure secure communication of voice, video and data between naval ships, submarines and reconnaissance aircraft. It is designed to provide operational support across a wide range of oceans, which is expected to significantly enhance India’s maritime security and real-time surveillance capabilities.
Earlier, the same LVM-3 rocket had achieved historic success in taking Chandrayaan-3 mission to the south pole of the Moon. Experts believe that the launch of CMS-03 will further strengthen India’s strategic balance of power and take India’s surveillance capability in the Indian Ocean region to a new level.
