The Ukrainian Hacker Group Silent Crowe and Belarusi Hacker Group Belarus Cyber-Partisans, who oppose the rule of Belarusi President Alexander Lakashnco, took responsibility for this cyber attack.
The cyber attack on Russia’s government -owned major airline company Aerophlot caused massive disruption in the company’s computer system on Monday, said Russia’s prosecution office said, due to which the airline had to cancel more than 100 flights and delayed others. The Ukrainian Hacker Group Silent Crowe and Belarusi Hacker Group Belarus Cyber-Partisans, who oppose the rule of Belarusi President Alexander Lakashnco, took responsibility for this cyber attack.

It is one of the most devastating cyber attacks on Russia since the beginning of Russia’s complete invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. In the previous attacks, Russian government websites and other major Russian companies – especially government -owned Russian Railways – were targeted, but normal services started in a few hours. A crowd of passengers flying hundreds of delays in the shared photos on social media is seen at the Saremetayevo Airport in Moscow, where Aerophalot is headquartered. This disruption also disrupted flights run by Aaroflot’s subsidiaries, Rosia and Pobeda.

Although most of the affected flights were domestic, some international flights to Belarus, Armenia and Uzbekistan were also canceled due to this disruption. In the statement, Aaroflot warned the passengers that the company’s information technology system is facing unspent problems and this disruption may continue even further. The Russian prosecutor office later confirmed that the cyber attack had caused this disruption and started a criminal investigation.
